STATEMENT BY THE DELEGATION OF NICARAGUA
AT THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL;
INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE ON THE REPORT
OF THE GROUP OF EXPERTS ON NICARAGUA

Excellency Mr. Václav Bálek, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Ladies and gentlemen representatives of the Member States, Representatives of International Organizations and Observers.
Ladies and gentlemen unilaterally appointed as members of the Group of Experts on Nicaragua.
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity formally declares before this Forum that our Republic has not accepted, nor will it accept the unilateral, biased and imposed designation by this Organization, of a “Group of Experts on Nicaragua”; to prepare any report on Human Rights in our Country.
We are convinced that this Group is nothing more than a curtain to provide the appearance of a non-existent legality to the reports that are prepared on Nicaragua and regarding which we reiterate, the inputs for these, are scripted by the sectors and media of the opposition in our country, that disseminate subjective, distorted and false situations and information about our reality; following the guidelines of imperial powers, whose sole purpose is to harm our independence and sovereignty, as well as intervene in our Nation.
We do not accept any report from the unilaterally so-called Group of Experts, because they are subjective and contrary to the supreme interests of our Country, in the search for Good Living in every dimension that this implies.
We are jealous of the progress that we have made with a lot of effort and we will not allow these malicious reports to continue disqualifying and denigrating our authorities, institutions, or our legal system.
The recommendations of this Group do not reflect the considerable progress that has been made in our country in terms of the most basic Human Rights (such as education, health, Women's Rights, electricity, combating extreme poverty, etc.), hence; Any recommendation that they could present is lacking in objectivity and even coercive, with the purpose of disintegrating the vision we have for our Country, in the search for the wellbeing of all Nicaraguans.
Despite the above, we share that these reports do not discourage us, nor do they intimidate us, quite the contrary; they strengthen us in our decision to continue making our way firmly, in the struggle to reach the maximum level of our political, economic and social Democracy.
We are a peaceful, decent and proud country within the international community, where we only defend respect for international law, which is why we request from this Group; respect and equal treatment.
