OF THE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

Thank you very much,
1. We appreciate the invitation and coordination of our Esteemed Brother Fu Cong, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations to this Meeting. We also welcome and appreciate the presence of our Brother H.E. Dennis Francis, President of the General Assembly.
2. Allow me to greet fraternally, on behalf of our President, Comandante Daniel and Compañera Rosario Murillo, Vice President of the Republic of Nicaragua, the fraternal People and Government of the People's Republic of China, as well as the countries that are joining us today, members of the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative.
3. The Global Development Initiative (GDI), promoted by President Xi Jinping, has been a very beneficial mechanism for our countries to accelerate the recovery of the world economy and deepen international cooperation, as it supports the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
4. It is important to continue promoting significant advances in priority areas of international cooperation, such as the urgent eradication of poverty, food security, financing for development, climate change, industrialization, the digital economy and interconnectivity in the digital era, with an equitable, balanced, stronger and inclusive vision, without exclusions of any kind.
5. It is necessary to ensure that the Pact for the Future reflects the commitments adopted in the Political Declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit in relation to the full development of our countries on the basis of the priority areas of international cooperation.
6. We must also consider the additional difficulties and the negative impact resulting from the imposition of illegal Unilateral Coercive Measures on Developing Countries, which directly endanger all our efforts to eradicate poverty and, too, the comprehensive implementation of the 2030 Agenda. We reiterate our rejection and condemnation of these measures and demand their immediate elimination.
7. Based on the Global Development Initiative, we will continue to lead development towards a new balanced, coordinated and inclusive phase with the support of the Group of Friends committed to the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda in solidarity and with multipolar multilateralism to jointly face challenges and create a shared future.
8. We appreciate the commitment of the Government of the People's Republic of China for its Leadership, Solidarity and valuable efforts for the Welfare and Security of Peoples and in the Fight against Poverty.
9. Nicaragua reiterates its support for President Xi Jinping, the People and Government of the People's Republic of China, the construction of the Community of Shared Destiny, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, which have become an important force for cooperation, common development, and also an effective platform for discussing plans for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
