Address by President-Comandante Daniel
on Receiving the Torch of Freedom and Central American Unity
September 12th 2022
I'm Pure Pinolero,
Nicaraguan by the Grace of God!
Long live Nicaragua!
Long live Peace!
Long live the Independence of Central America!
Beloved young people, beloved girls, boys, beloved Nicaraguan Families, beloved Sisters and Brothers, today here in the Park of Peace, we are receiving the Torch of Peace. Indeed, because these flags that accompany us, Guatemala, which was where Independence was proclaimed, from there the Torch set out, changing between the hands of boys and girls, of young Guatemalans, Central Americans... Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, now Nicaragua, and then it goes on to Costa Rica. A journey in which thousands of Young People, Students, Athletes, Artists, Young People who are the Present and the Future of the Central American Nation have taken part.
We have greeted Esmeralda Carolina Méndez Cruz, the Managua's Best High School Student, from the República de Ecuador Collegs, in the Municipality of San Rafael. Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations to her, to the Teachers and Students, and the People of San Rafael.
She is accompanied by the boys and girls who came bearing the Flags. So, Yasira Julieth Jarquín Maltez, a High School student from the Che Guevara Institute of the Villa El Carmen Municipality of Managua, has entered this Peace Square with the Flags. Congratulations to you, to your Family, to your Teachers and the Students of the Institute, and to the Municipality of Villa El Carmen.
Likewise, carrying with all his Pride, with all his Strength, this boy, José González Flores, a High School student at the Instituto Experimental México in Managua. Congratulations to you, to your Family, to the Students of your School, of your College.
They have undertaken a journey, and don't think that they have only sweated a little, they have sweated a lot, because the Torch weighs quite a bit, the Torch is heavy, of course it is! And after all, it is an expression of Central American Unity, of a Central American Spirit.
Because when we Central Americans became independent, and we are now just a couple of days away from commemorating Independence, on September 15th, the majority were for Independence, but also there were those who were against Independence, you see, they had no Nation, they did not want a Nation, they wanted to be slaves of the colonizers. But the Sense of Nationhood triumphed and Independence was declared. And we were born to that Independence being united; and then we were divided, and due to different circumstances we have managed to get closer again, and September 14th, the day after tomorrow, is the moment when we Central Americans united to face the invader and defeat Walker.
And in these times in which in Central America has struggled to combat Poverty, to develop Education, Healthcare, the Welfare of all Central American Families, we Central Americans have managed to make progress. We have greater cohesion in the midst of differences of course there will always be differences, but the important thing is that we are united in the Central American Integration System, in SICA, which is an instrument uniting us in all fields, with the fundamental purpose, really, of defending Peace for Nicaragua, Peace for Nicaragua, Peace for all of Central America, which is what makes it possible for us to progress.
So, on this day when we are receiving the Torch, the Torch of Peace, the Torch of Freedom, we say:
Long live the Central American Peoples!
Long live the Unity of the Central American Peoples!
Long live Peace!
Long live Peace!
And Long live Peace!
Remarks by Compañera Rosario, Vice-President of Nicaragua,
after the Reception of the Torch of Freedom and Central American Unity
September 12th 2022
Beloved Families of this Nicaragua of ours, Blessed Nation, Dignified, Sovereign, Free Nation... Long live our Nicaragua! Always, forever Blessed. Always striving hard, because we are forever working hard. Always striving to do better, because we are Fighters, always overcoming adverse circumstances, because we are Victors.
Long live our Nicaragua! How we share this Pride in our Country, of being Nicaraguans by the Grace of God!
Listen to the Angelus Bells. It's now 6 o'clock in the afternoon and here we are paying tribute to this Nation that we love so much, one that belongs to Everyone, and where we are truly committed, all Nicaraguans to ensure that the Good of Everyone flourishes, cultivating it every day.
An embrace, Compañeras and Compañeros...! May these Patriotic Days we are celebrating be full of Love, Respect, Recognition, and above all full of Trust in God, because the God of All Victories shines on us, like the Sun that never sets!
Here we are, working for Peace, working for Good, and working with Love and Hope... Hope has filled us always, and even in the midst of adversities we have been able to keep Hope high. With Hope, which is the Light of God, we have set out, always knowing how to overcome... to Win, Win and Win again!
And right now, we are getting rain, but here there is a Sun that already illuminates all the new Victories, of the Family, of Peace, of Harmony, of the Good Life, of Life with Faith, of Life with that Sense of Humility that we Human Beings must have, because we know that we owe ourselves to the God of All Victories, who fills us with Strength every day, Immense Spiritual Strength, to continue our Path towards Development with Justice, towards the Victory that will happen, sooner rather than later, against Poverty, which is the enemy, the greatest adversary of our peoples.
We are Advancing, Always Further On as our General Sandino told us, and we say it from the deepest Conviction that it is so... We Always Go Further On!
Much love to all Nicaragua's families. Thank you, Compañeras and Compañeros.
