Dear Director General:
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua cordially greets you, on the occasion of referring to the publication of the Report “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024”, prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); which we reject as lacking objectivity, methodological rigor, for containing false information, having an interventionist, aggressive tendency and which has been maliciously disseminated for political purposes.
The aforementioned document publishes information and data about Nicaragua that were neither authorized, nor consulted with our Institutions, nor validated by the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua
International Organizations are obliged to respect the States Parties such that the use of information must have the prior consent and approval of the State concerned, which has not been complied with by FAO, thereby providing false inputs for negative publications aimed at discrediting the Government of Nicaragua and its policies to Combat Poverty, for Human Development and Food Security.
The FAO's attitude is unacceptable, inadmissible and disrespectful. Consequently, we announce the withdrawal of Nicaragua from this Organization and demand the immediate closure of its Representation and Offices in Nicaragua.
