MESSAGE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF RECONCILIATION AND NATIONAL UNITY
OF THE REPUBLIC OF NICARAGUA
AT THE MEETING OF MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
OF THE COMMUNITY OF LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN STATES (CELAC)

Tuesday, April 8th 2025

Brother and Sister Ministers and Heads of Delegation.

Allow me to convey Fraternal Greetings and Affection from Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Compañera Rosario Murillo Zambrana, Co-Presidents of the Republic of Nicaragua, as well as from its People and Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.

We thank the Sister Republic of Honduras for her work at the helm of CELAC this year.

CELAC has come a long way, trying to build a vision of unity, of understanding, of being a space that addresses with courage and dignity the pressing issues that affect our peoples.

We remember that CELAC has some basic principles, built up over the years, fundamental principles on which the region has been building agreements.

We witnessed the dedicated effort of the PPT to try to accommodate and harmonize forms, as if this were problem of forms, when really it is a problem of political positioning.

That's why we want to make our positions clear in this space:

Nicaragua continues to demand respect for the sovereign equality of States, the right to self-determination, territorial integrity and non-intervention in the internal affairs of each country.

We reaffirm our commitment to the defense of sovereignty and the right of every State to define its institutional framework, its normative framework, free from threats, aggression or unilateral coercive measures.

We express our unchanging and growing solidarity with the Fraternal Bolivarian People and Government of Venezuela, which is suffering the impact of cruel, constant, inhuman imperialist aggression, including unilateral coercive measures, which have recently become more frequent and evident, against that brave people.

We agree with the legitimate demand of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela for the safe return of Venezuelan migrant Brothers. We express our solidarity with the relatives of all the kidnapped and imprisoned migrant Brothers, who have been denied all their rights and we demand their immediate return to Venezuela.

We strongly condemn the criminalization of our migrant brothers and sisters, as well as the undignified and shameful treatment they are receiving.

We reiterate our demand to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Sister Republic of Cuba and our rejection of unilateral lists and certifications or the inclusion in lists of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

From CELAC we must recognize and express our unchanging solidarity with the People of Palestine and their inalienable right to a free and sovereign state. In these months, this expression of solidarity becomes even more urgent given the continuing genocide against them.

We continue to express our appreciation for the genuine demand of our Caribbean Peoples of reparations for the horrendous crimes committed by the transatlantic slave trade against them.

We will continue to denounce all forms of aggression and unilateral coercive measures against the dreams for Peace and Well-being of our Peoples and Governments, especially in Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.

And in the current global context, we reject restrictive measures to international trade through the arbitrary imposition of tariffs.

We call on our CELAC, to convene an Urgent and Permanent Session, to analyze the very serious consequences of the Tariff Policies decreed by the United States of America against the World, and to agree on common actions and measures to address their consequences, prioritizing the Rights of our Peoples, and in particular our Struggles against Poverty and for an existence of Dignity and Well-being.

We reiterate our commitment to the next China-CELAC meeting next May, as an important space of solidarity and cooperation, under the leadership of China.

That is why our delegation expresses with all responsibility that these basic principles must be taken up again. This is the reality that the world is living, this is the reality that the region is living.

We call on those who wish to adhere to these positions to do so, aware that we have the responsibility to tell the world that these are the issues that were discussed by CELAC and on which there is broad agreement in our region.

Thank you very much.
