Unida Nicaragua Triunfa

MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF RECONCILIATION
AND NATIONAL UNITY AT THE
XXXIX PERIOD OF SESSIONS OF ECLAC
Wednesday, 26th October, 2022
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Mr. Santiago Cafiero, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic, Pro Tempore Presidency of ECLAC.
Honorable Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. José Manuel Salazar, Executive Director of ECLAC.
Dear All:
We convey the fraternal greetings of Comrade President, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, Comrade Vice President Rosario Murillo and the People of Nicaragua.
We salute this Thirty-ninth Period of Sessions of ECLAC, in which we have reflected on the crises and changes experienced by the economy, development models, trade relations, globalization, among others, which have repercussions on energy and food production, as well as on inflation and climate change, recessive threats that our Countries must overcome in order to continue serving the Rights of our Peoples.
As it is well known, Nicaragua has historically resisted imperial aggression, which manifests itself in the so-called sanctions, which are illegal, arbitrary and unilateral, and which, as is the case with other Brotherly Countries, have the objective of suffocating us economically, quite the opposite of what has been discussed in this session.
Likewise, we want to underline that our country, being in a highly vulnerable region, constantly suffers the ravages of climate change, which, as we all know, was not caused by us. These events seriously affect our Economies, which is why we believe they should always be in the focus of ECLAC's reflections. Nicaragua ratifies the concept and practice of Climate Justice.
Nicaragua has made enormous efforts to lay the foundations for a Development Model that has as its guiding document, the National Plan to Fight Poverty and for Human Development, which places Life, the Common Good, the Culture of Peace, Coexistence and the fight against poverty and inequalities, at its very center. We have tried to address these challenges ensuring the Basic Human Rights of our People and promoting growth with Social Justice.
We believe that at ECLAC we must rethink all of these current challenges and assume guidelines and commitments to transcend them.
In relation to this, our aspiration is that the reflections, proposals and studies that arise from ECLAC, allow us to better envision that path.
Thank you very much.
