Nicaraguan brothers and sisters; Families living io the cities and neighborhoods, in the rural communities, those who live in the coastal communities by our seas, everyone, be they children, or adults, or those who are unwell, if we asked each of you what you most desire, what you most aspire to on this Earth, in this Nation of Darío and Sandino; you would tell us: We want Peace! We Want Peace! We Want Peace! We Want Peace! We Want Peace! We Want Peace! We Want Peace Of Mind!
That is what our people want, that is what humanity wants. Beyond the military power that the Powers may have, the Peoples of those Powers want Peace, they do not want atomic weapons exploding, because that would destroy Humankind and it would destroy them too.
These are times, these are days in which the struggle for Peace is at the forefront of all Human Beings who have a Conscience, who share Solidarity, who know how to value what Life is, and know what the terror of wars is, of deaths, which today are causing the martyrdom of an entire People, the Palestinian People.
Progress was made in Peace Agreements, but the rulers of the State of Israel do not respect these Agreements, and they continue every day to murder People who are on their own land, from which they want to banish them or end up burying them, which is what they have been doing in recent times, burying thousands and thousands of Palestinian families every day.
How much violence! How much terror! But in Nicaragua we are lovers of Peace, and in Central America we are lovers of Peace, and from Mexico to Patagonia we are lovers of Peace; the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States swore their commitment to Peace.
But we are being threatened by the Power, which we already lived through and which our forebears lived through; when the Independence of Central America had barely been decreed, when the Yankee filibusters were already invading Nicaragua. And they thought we were a People of Peasants, of Indigenous People, a People in Poverty, looking for a way out of Poverty and how to have some Peace and Stability, they thought they were going to end all that so as dominate and enslave.
They never imagined that this People, from their Poverty, from their disadvantageous conditions compared to those of the gangs that came with William Walker, who later declared himself President of Nicaragua, and who was then recognized by the Government of the United States, and who appointed his Ambassador, who was the Ambassador there. And who did he appoint as Ambassador? A Priest, a Priest who simply had no idea of Christ.
Unlike Gaspar García Laviana who came from Spain and lived with the Peasants of the Department of Rivas, in the Communities, he brought Christ and brought commitment to the Poor, to the People. And that is why, after spending his time among the communities of the Department of Rivas, talking to the Peasants, bringing them hope, he joined the Sandinista National Liberation Front.
Just a few months before the Victory, on December 11th 1978, he fell in combat there, because he was a priest who preached and practiced his commitment to the Poor. And to him, today, beloved Compañeros and Compañeras you who are graduating, are dedicating this Promotion.
I was commenting to you that these are hard times, because, on the other hand, well, we already know, the United States government has deployed military forces in different places in the Caribbean, and also in the Pacific Ocean they have military units there which are supposedly to fight drug trafficking.
The fight against drug trafficking is one of the priorities here in Nicaragua, and here in Nicaragua we have managed to create a containing wall so that drug traffickers do not establish themselves in Nicaragua, nor that transit here; whoever wants to transit is captured, and the drugs they try to carry are captured, but everyone is looking towards the United States market, because that's where the big consumption is.
And the government of the United States is wrong to threaten fraternal Peoples, the fraternal Venezuelan People, to whom we express our Solidarity, our Respect, our Affection, to President Nicolás Maduro, and to his People who defend Peace. It is true, they are prepared as well, but, in the meantime, Venezuela is a country at Peace; its families and children, move about in Peace. There is a peaceful situation, and they have said very clearly: We are defending Peace!
Meanwhile, the United States has been bombing small boats, very small boats, which they say are carrying drugs, but without knowing if they are carrying drugs or not; they just see a small boat and sink it, and they don't leave a single person alive, because that's the order: to kill everyone they find in their way. And naturally that affects fishing workers who are afraid to go fishing.
The solution to this problem of drugs, of drug trafficking, is not to deploy military groups, coastguards, aviation, around the countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States. They're not doing anything that way, why? Because the drugs keep on going to the United States of America.
And, additionally, a new drug has appeared, Fentanyl, which is trafficked in the large laboratories of the United States and Europe. It is not manufactured in Latin America, but it is the most deadly drug, killing mostly young people there in the United States; in their millions, the President of the United States himself has said so, millions of people die.
So, what is the solution? It is necessary to exert control and they have the strength, the capacity to control the borders of the United States so as not to allow drugs to enter from these Countries; to control the neighborhoods of the United States, of the US cities, where the drugs are distributed, where the drugs are sold, where there is drug dealing, where gangs are everywhere.
And then, controlling the major United States banks, where those who sell drugs in the United States place their money, and where they have millions and millions of dollars, enough to be able to use them to bring order to the United States.
The President of the United States gains nothing by threatening the Latin American People. He achieves nothing in that way! It doesn't solve anything! Because his problem is there in his own house, where those buying drugs do so every day, and where those who are selling the drugs do so every day, and it is there where the people are who profit from those selling the drugs, those who facilitate the sale of drugs in the neighborhoods of the United States.
They have the solution right there if they control the consumption of drugs in the United States, then, quite simply, they would not have to come looking for those who move drugs from the southern countries of our Latin America. Because after all, that’s where drugs are grown, that Peasants grow and there have been plans there to try stopping the Peasants from growing those drugs and move to other types of crops. Efforts have indeed been made.
But the truth is that, that the drugs coming from the South of the Latin American and Caribbean Region, no longer even go to the United States anymore, they go rather to Europe; because the United States is being supplied by big industries, big companies, that have developed that drug that is even more terrifying, namely Fentanyl.
It is a reflection that we must make, the least we can do, so that the United States government does not threaten the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples, so that it does not threaten the People of Bolívar, the People of Chávez, the People of Nicolás, a People who have never launched any aggression against any People here in the Region; on the contrary, they have been concerned to offer collaboration, cooperation, donations, to the most impoverished Peoples of the Caribbean Region and also right here in Central America.
We have electrical energy here because when President Chávez came to our presidential Inauguration and we were discussing the problems we had, because the governments preceding us, three governments backed by the US ruling class, who gave no support to these governments, left the Country running out of Energy such that there were blackouts every day.
For us that situation was very difficult, because, well, we were taking office in a country full of energy blackouts. What were our People to say? That we should solve the issue of blackouts. But how, we were saying to ourselves, if we don't have any oil and we don't even have enough generating plants here to guarantee energy?
And President Chavez immediately ordered some generating plants which they had bought in Asia and were coming for Venezuela and which were in transit in Cuba at that time, be moved immediately to Nicaragua. And here those generating plants arrived, and the oil also arrived, which the Bolivarian People provided to us, as they did to many countries.
That example is one of real solidarity, of Christian example, and thus rather the Venezuelan People and their Authorities should be respected and loved, for the way they have behaved with the impoverished Peoples of the Region; they even set up programs in the United States to benefit the most impoverished people.
How big is the heart of that people! How big is the heart of Chavez! How big is the heart of Nicholas!
We are with you, Sisters and Brothers, we are with you, and we are sure that no war will break out there. We have confidence, we have faith that God is not going to allow any war to erupt there, that Venezuela will not be attacked, since it has already suffered enough aggression only to be subjected to an invasion, an invasion that no one wants, no one wants!
So may peace reign in Venezuela, and may it also reign in Colombia, because Colombia has been threatened by the government of the United States. They are threatening on all sides.
These are times in the world when we can no longer afford to talk about more wars, humanity has had enough wars for people to continue insisting on new wars.
There go the Europeans, the European Union, seeking to raise, I think it's 700 billion euros, to buy armaments, to build armaments, with the story that, since Russia is fighting for what belongs to it there in Ukraine, they are preparing, they say, or they want to prepare for war with Russia. It's complete madness.
The colonialist, Imperialist Powers have not drawn the lessons history offers them, because wherever colonialism was established, wherever the domination of empires was established, they have always been defeated in the end and the Peoples liberated themselves, and have been liberating themselves.
What they rather have to do is work for Peace, these are times when we should all be working for Peace. The European Community should be working for Peace.
The United States, well, it has been making a few efforts for peace, but, on the other hand, it comes here to stir things up with the famous Monroe Doctrine, “America for Americans”. No. They mean America for the United States. If it were really for all Americans, they would have to start distributing their wealth throughout Latin America. Indeed!
If they want America to be for Americans they should distribute their wealth, to help these Peoples to emerge from poverty, to emerge from hunger, from misery. But that’s not what they mean, they mean America for themselves, not for the people of the Americas, but for the US oligarchy.
We congratulate these young people who are graduating. And they are graduating, not to go and attack anyone, they have been training but not to go and cause harm to anyone.
Here we have an Army whose Commander-in-Chief has been very clear that this is an Army for defending Peace, the Peace of our Families, so that they are not assaulted in the Countryside; just as the Police are also with the duty to protect Families, so that they are not assaulted in the cities.
The Army is also protecting our borders from drug trafficking, which is trying to open its way here. The Army is promoting and executing Programs to repair the roads that have been damaged in many places where we have not yet managed to reach, and they are preparing the way so that vehicles transiting there have better conditions when traveling; that is to say, they doing road construction work, so that until finished highway arrives, until the concrete roads arrive, they go there clearing the roads.
And the Army Compañeros and Compañeras, Compañeros and Compañeras Graduating, well, Compañeras and Compañeros, you know, you are coming to put your knowledge so as to contribute to the strengthening of Peace in Nicaragua; because here there have been several attempts seeking to put an end to Peace, but, in the end, our own People are the ones who are convinced there should be no more attempts at coups d'état, nor Terrorism, because we have seen what that means, it destroys Peace, it destroys Security.
Now as we have already seen, taking a good look at the recent past, 2018 was the attempted coup, an attempt to end Peace, and when all those acts of terrorism were defeated and extinguished, every year since, the year 2019, the year 2020, 2021, 2022, we have moved forward, creating better conditions in Nicaragua.
Better conditions for the Economy, better conditions for Production, better conditions to develop Programs to benefit the Poor, better conditions to build Housing for low income people, better conditions to strengthen productive activities in the Sector, in the Countryside, producing Coffee or Livestock or Sugar.
Better conditions to provide Health, which we are obliged to provide to Nicaraguans, health with the same conditions so-called First World hospitals provide. Here we now have hospitals with those conditions, able to provide care to Families with the latest means to address epidemics, to address painful diseases. We have that now.
And we see the young people participating in handing over Hospitals in León, in Ocotal, and there are more Hospitals being completed, and Schools, that is, everything that we have managed to do, is thanks to Peace. Without Peace it would be impossible!
And the guarantors of Peace are the Army and the Police, guarantors of Sovereignty too, because we have to protect our Sovereignty, the territories that have been awarded to us after proceeding in international organizations, in the International Court of Justice in The Hague, where we managed to win the right to more ocean territory, to the River San Juan, to areas that we share with other Countries, that we have clearly delimited so that we do not have conflicts in this regard.
Like the Gulf of Fonseca, we have it delimited, for Nicaragua its frontiers are delimited; but then there are contradictions still between Sister Countries, whom we hope will eventually come to complete agreement so that we will have Tranquility and Peace in the Gulf.
Nicaraguan Brothers and Sisters, we are going to swear in our Fellow Graduates.
Here we have 24 Compañeros and Compañeras, Officers, Lieutenants, who have graduated here in Nicaragua and others who have graduated in the Russian Federation and in other Countries. And we gave Recognition to Lieutenant Julio Hernández, who obtained the First Place; to Lieutenant Francisco Salazar, who obtained Second Place and also a Distinction, because he distinguished himself in Sports; to Lieutenant Axel García, who obtained Third Place; to Lieutenants Edward Rodríguez and Carlos Martínez, who obtained the Academic Distinction Medal for achieving the Red Diploma in the Academies of the Russian Federation, where they spent several years studying. Then too we have the Compañeras who are Doctors, three Medical Compañeras.
We have four graduates from Managua, two from Masaya, three from Carazo, one from Madriz, five from Matagalpa, one from Jinotega, four from León, one from Chontales, one from Boaco, two from the Northern Caribbean Autonomous Region and one from Río San Juan. All promoted to Lieutenants.
Where are the names of the Compañeras who are Doctors here? I don't see them here. Well, before we get sworn in, we'll ask the Compañeras to stand up, the three Compañeras, here they are, here for our People to see, so the cameras can focus on them and our People can see them. The Compañeras have given their names.
