Statement Of Solidarity with Venezuela
The Nicaragua Solidarity Coalition categorically rejects the illegal attacks on Venezuela by the United States military and its criminal kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Adela Flores. These actions are a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, sovereignty, and respect among nations.
We reject all foreign interventions in matters internal to sovereign states, recognizing that no foreign intervention has ever brought peace, democracy or well-being, but instead only suffering, divisiveness and dependency for the affected peoples.
Political disagreements can never be resolved through pressure, economic coercive measures or military interventions.
We reaffirm that the sovereignty of every country is to be respected. We reaffirm that every sovereign nation has full control over the natural resources found within its territory. The Venezuelan people's right to self-determination is inalienable, and only the people of Venezuela have the right to decide, free from any external interference, the present and the future of their own country.
We call on the governments of the world to respond responsibly and unequivocally to demand respect for international law, immediate cessation of all forms of external aggression against and coercion of sovereign peoples, and to demand the immediate and safe return of President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Adela Flores to Venezuelan soil.
We continue to demand that Latin America and the Caribbean remain a Zone of Peace. We specifically call on governments of the region to immediately cease any and all cooperation with the U.S. military, including providing military bases, airports, airspace and radar installations used to further U.S. terror actions against Venezuela. We understand that every country in Latin America is now in immediate danger from terror attacks perpetrated by the U.S. unless the militarization of the region is urgently reversed.
We make a special call on the people of the United States to immediately and unequivocally hold their government accountable for its criminal actions.
We stand with the people of Venezuela, reaffirming our solidarity with them and the Bolivarian Revolutionary Government, now headed by Delcy Rodriguez. We reaffirm our commitment to defend sovereignty, peace, social justice, and mutual respect among nations. We know that the people of Venezuela are well organized, are already showing their support for their Bolivarian Revolution in the streets, and are willing and able to defend the sovereignty of their country with their lives if necessary.
