A Letter from Dorothy Granada to friends in North America

Dear Friends,

I came to Nicaragua with Charles Gray, 36 years ago.  We came to lend our small efforts to the revolution that declared that the poorest in the land was the most important.

The revolutionary government continues to put the poorest first with programs to help create El BUEN VIDA.  Programs include the elements to create and maintain a dignified, human life.

This is not propaganda, but truth that I see daily.  It sometimes seems as though our small group tries to do the impossible, then we are offered the hand of one of the many government groups.  My deepest sorrow is that we are not able to help more to create this truly human society.

The U.S. Empire finds intolerable the efforts of this small, poor country to create the society the majority of Nicaraguans want.  People over profits is an example that cannot be allowed to exist.  The U.S. continues to pour millions of dollars into an opposition that only fights over the dollars.  There is no union, no program, just greed and hate.

The U.S. continue to pour millions to undermine the coming elections, the international media has been bought to spread lies about the government.  I am shocked and sad when I learn that former solidarity workers believe the lies.  I´m reminded of the words of my dear friend, Grant Gallup, (now gone to another place) "one´s view depends upon where one is standing".

Covid deaths for a million in April 2021 for Nicaragua are 27.  The same period in the U.S. sadly is 1,704

Please remember that Nicaragua is a country where hope is still alive, possibility is real and many are working for a better world.

Be strong, heal this wonderful planet and it´s creatures. Do not let hope perish.

Love and abrazos

Dorothy
