On the occasion of celebrating your election as the 8th Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the First Belizean and the First Woman to hold this important position; allow us to transmit our warmest Congratulations to You, the Brotherly People of Belize and to all the Peoples of the Caribbean.
Your appointment represents an important step toward greater equality and representation of women in decision making positions and undoubtably will serve as a beacon to inspire young girls throughout the Caribbean.
We recognize that you are assuming this relevant position of leadership at a very difficult time for the Caribbean and the World, however, we are certain that you will be able to rise to this challenge by promoting even greater integration, understanding and cooperation throughout the Region.
Rest assured that the Government of Nicaragua remains committed toward strengthening the existing bonds of Caribbean Fraternity and Solidarity and therefore, will continue working, hand in hand, with CARICOM.
