Nicaragua under the gaze of imperial "diplomacy"

While in Colombia there are flagrant episodes of State terrorism against civilian protesters, systematic disappearances and covert crimes by the established powers, in Israel a full-fledged ethnic cleansing is perpetrated against the Palestinian People, or in Chile, where they still cry out for justice for the continuous repression by that neoliberal police state and the release of thousands of political prisoners, the United Nations and the Organization of American States (OAS) remain silent with impunity and omit any condemnation of these events. However, in recent days they have made their voices heard to point out a nation besieged for decades by the United States, such as Nicaragua, and its current government, chaired by Daniel Ortega.

Added to this is the blockade and sanctions of the United States against Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. In recent days, the United States froze in a foreign bank, money sent by Venezuela to buy vaccines in a European country. This action, among many other sanctions that violate international legislation and the human rights of the peoples of these besieged countries, reveal the crimes against humanity of which the three sister countries are victims, while the peoples of the world mobilize against the war siege imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years, the longest and cruellest in the history of mankind.

From the Argentine chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, we dispute that voice cowardly misused by the OAS to denounce the double standards of international organizations that should defend the peoples illegally pressured and sanctioned by U.S. unilateralism.

The internal tensions between the opposition and pro-government sectors in the Nicaraguan political sphere are not only the product of undue and covert interference and financing by the U.S. State Department, but also of the hegemonic vocation demonstrated by Washington to undermine, inhibit and spoil the process of the Nicaraguan Democratic Process that began in 2007, with the electoral triumph of Sandinismo.

The recent actions of the OAS under the general secretariat of Luis Almagro, not only are legally invalid for international law, but also show the perverse substratum, devoid of all humanistic ethic, that dominates this inter-American institution, definitely subject to the bloody imperial diplomacy conducted by Washington.

In this sense, the Argentine chapter of the REDH deeply regrets that, after observing a political turn from the submissiveness of previous governments towards more sovereign positions, then some Latin American foreign ministries called their respective accredited ambassadors in Nicaragua for consultations. A certainly unfortunate act that reinforces this imperial diplomacy and does not contribute to clarifying the destabilizing framework that is being imposed on the Central American nation today.

The demonstrations of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, expressing his concern for the politicians detained in Nicaragua, but omitting the massacres that are taking place today in Colombia or Israel under crypto-fascist governments, or the allusions of fraud and a coup in Peru, to avoid popular victory at the polls; evidence the most execrable, complicit and mendacious that can be seen in the field of diplomacy, today lost in the labyrinth of a decadent civilization led by the United States government.

From REDH Argentina we demand that continental diplomacy conform to a principle of interpretive equity of the events of Our America and condemn in the first place and without euphemisms, the many and varied unacceptable and even genocidal actions, today in full development in various points of Our America, and not precisely in Nicaragua.
