Historically, the conservative and liberal parties have ruled Nicaragua. They transferred power through fraudulent elections where the president, following the terms of reference of Yankee "democracy", was elected according to the interests pursued by the enemy of humanity.

On 19 July 1979, the Sandinista Revolution triumphed and finally, Nicaragua achieved its definitive independence. To get there, the People of Nicaragua have come a long way. Here we highlight the struggle of Diriangén, Andrés Castro, Benjamín Zeledón and General Sandino until reaching the struggle of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, a political instrument that took up the liberation struggles and developed a strategy to free Nicaragua from the Somoza tyranny.

Currently, Yankee imperialism has returned to the charge against the Central American nation. In an unjust disinformation campaign, the invader, making use of the media and international organizations at its service, assaults Our People, implanting a dirty matrix of opinion with lies and odious falsehoods.

Imperialism is now defending Benedict Arnold politicians, liberal-conservative criminals who have broken the Law and violated the Constitution, betraying the People and the Nation, in their attempts to set Nicaragua once more under the boots of the oppressive empire.

It is for this reason that the Sandinista Revolution, being very clear about its historical role, raises the red and black flag with a historical slogan "Justice for the Oppressed against the Historical Oppressor." In order to understand this, it is necessary to remember the words of the Father of the Sandinista Revolution, Comandante Carlos Fonseca Amador:

“Let us remember the dozens of peasants murdered in the mountains of northern Nicaragua, even throwing them into the air from helicopters. Let us remember the torments to which the peasants were subjected in the mountain concentration camps, as well as the prisoners in the dungeons of the city, without excluding the raping of young university student activists. That was the National Guard, created in the image and likeness of the Yankee aggressor. That is the National Guard with virtues that the aristocratic Liberal-Conservative heirs and heiresses, now leading the pseudo opposition, claim to find in it, perverse demagogues whom one day, the Nicaraguan people will call to account.”

In Nicaragua, that moment has arrived and today, the historical oppressor must be held accountable by Justice since, in this new revolutionary stage, no one, absolutely no one, is above the Law.

At this pre-election juncture, we underline the importance of the Nicaraguan people's level of resistance, as well as the role that International Solidarity must play to break the disinformation blockade mounted by the dominant media and international organizations, serving imperialism, who, in the name of freedom, democracy and human rights, promote intervention against the People of Nicaragua.

History supports the Revolutionary struggle of the Nicaraguan People, which has been written with the spilled blood of more than 50 thousand men and women who gave their lives to see a Free Nicaragua; It is this blood that commits us even more to continue fighting so that our people can continue to govern in a beautiful, blessed and always free Nicaragua.

In these moments in Nicaragua, we hear the war time rallying cries, singing hymns of the freedom of the oppressed peoples against the injustice of the oppressors. Imperialism and its lackeys will not be able to defeat this brave and valiant people, they will not be able to defeat this heroic People fighting to defend the victories achieved by this Popular Revolution.

“We will advance towards the Sun of Freedom or towards death and if we die, our cause will continue to live. Others will follow us.” (General Augusto C. Sandino)

Always Free, A Free Nation or Death
