PRESS RELEASE FROM
THE NICARAGUAN FOREIGN MINISTRY
ON OUR VOTE FOR THE PPT-CELAC
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua, Blessed and Forever Free, in the face of false and insidious media campaigns, maliciously suggesting an alleged agreement for our Nicaragua to absent itself tomorrow Saturday, September 18, from the Plenary of the PPT-CELAC Summit, we strongly reject such self-interested communications media perversion, and we once again make clear that our position in defense of CELAC, and of our Sovereignty and National Dignity, is firm, forceful and consistent with the Founding Principles and Values of our Organization.
It is not true, nor is it possible, that Nicaragua might vote in favor of the Argentine Republic for the Presidency of CELAC. We do not support, and we are not going to vote for a Government which unfortunately has adopted a position of illegal and illegitimate collusion with the Yankee Imperialist Government, violating our Dignity and National Sovereignty.
For well-founded reasons that we have explained abundantly, and in view of the repeatedly aggressive and shameful position of the Government of the Argentine Republic, which has conspired with unusual and well-publicized complicity, in a way unworthy of this America of ours, of so much Heroism and with so many Independence Heroes, so as to intervene, in word and deed, in the internal affairs, of our Nation and Liberty.
We do not accept for Nicaragua, and therefore neither do we want nor accept for our CELAC, another Luis Almagro, a traitor to our Flags and Symbols of Struggle and Resistance.
We do not accept it for Nicaragua, and therefore we also repudiate, any new attempt to intervene in our CELAC, violating our basic founding principles, which proclaim and promote the Supreme Dream of our Forebears, Union, Homeland, Sovereignty, Justice, Peace and Human Development, without sinister subordination and with no pathetic aberration proclaiming the most abject surrender to Yankee designs of hegemony and intervention.
The Yankee Agendas that we so fiercely repudiate; the Strategies of domination that
we so fiercely reject, with Patriotism and Heroism, cannot be part of the Agendas of this CELAC which has cost us all so much.
Today we remember all the efforts towards Union for the Greater Nation, of the Eternal Comandantes Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez Frías, whose lucid Thinking and consistent Practice of National Dignity, guide all our Paths.
Another Luis Almagro in CELAC would be a betrayal of the Blessed Blood shed in Historic and Victorious Anti-Yankee Struggles.
Another Luis Almagro in CELAC would be to declare the intervention and surrender to Yankee claws of the Paths to Liberty of our Caribbean America.
The true Greatness, the Cultural, Sacred and Inviolable Heroic Identity, the incorruptible and steadfast Heritage of our Peoples, is not created, nor made safe by means of servility and facile eagerness to cover up with false airs of grandeur and arrogance the disasters of failed policies in so many areas.
We are for a CELAC that is Dignified, Sovereign, Strong, Convoking and Consistent, like our Peoples, because in this way, we all benefit.
We are for CELAC, and in accordance with the Principles and Values that sustain it, to open, in Union, New Historic Stages in consonance with our Brave and Just Struggles.
Latin America and the Caribbean, our Nicaragua of Dario and Sandino, We Will Not Sell Out, Nor Will We Surrender, Ever!
And in specific relation to the disrespect for our Dignity and Sovereign Ways, we reiterate with the General of Free Women and Men, Augusto C. Sandino, that "the Sovereignty of a People, is not up for discussion but defended by force of arms".
In these times the arms are those of Honor, and the Glories and Victories of Peace.
We are no one's backyard, much less anyone's colonies.
It is essential to make no mistake. To reject Imperial Agents seeking to subordinate us in an effort to please Yankee Imperialism at the expense of our Peoples who have never assaulted anyone, to reject serving with treachery and treason the imperialist vulgarity that still dreams vainly of a Latin America and Caribbean fluttering on their Flags, as annexations and possessions that no one, much less God, has given them nor will give them.
Of that, as Dario said, we can be sure, because they have everything, except God.
“Our Cause Lives On
because it is the Cause of Justice
because it is the Cause of Love”.
Long Live Sandino!
