On 20 November, NSCAG and Alliance for Global Justice co-hosted a webinar featuring many people from the US and beyond who accompanied the Nicaraguan elections and saw first-hand what really took place. A recording of the webinar can be found here
The US and its ally the Organisation of American States have tried to delegitimise the recent Nicaraguan elections as fraudulent and neither free nor fair. A recent article by John Perry seeks to identify the basis of these accusations, examines the evidence offered to support them and shows why, in practice, the massive fraud being alleged was very unlikely to have happened. The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA-TCP), the São Paulo Forum, the Simon Bolivar Institute, the Brazilian Workers Party (PT) and the governments of Cuba, Bolivia and Venezuela have congratulated Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo on their recent election victory and expressed solidarity with the Nicaraguan people. Nicaragua announces withdrawal from Organisation of American States
