STATEMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT OF RECONCILIATION
AND NICARAGUA NATIONAL UNITY AT THE FORTY-FIFTH
ANNUAL MEETING OF MINISTERS OF FOREIGN
AFFAIRS OF THE G77 + CHINA GROUP

Mr. President,
Sister and Brother Ministers,
1. Receive fraternal greetings on behalf of our Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, President of Nicaragua and Comrade Rosario Murillo, Vice-President.
2. We thank the Republic of Guinea for the excellent coordination of the group and we welcome the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to its Presidency in 2022, for which we express our support.
3. With the solidarity that has characterized this group since its creation, we help each other to face the crisis caused by the pandemic that continues to affect our development projects, as well as our efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda and its sustainable development goals (SDG).
4. The fair and equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine continues to be necessary, ensuring technology transfer, capacity building, provision of financial resources and the socialization of patents.
5. Our appreciation and gratitude to You and Our Group, for the solidarity shown towards the countries affected by the imposition of coercive economic measures, including unilateral sanctions, manifested in the Ministerial Declaration, thus rejecting the imposition of such measures and reiterating the urgent need to eliminate them immediately, as they undermine the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, threatening the freedom of trade and investment.
6. At the recent COP26 in Glasgow, some developed countries continued to oppose agreements related to the required level of ambitions needed to limit the increase in global temperature to 1.5ºC, in order to avoid irreversible damage caused by Global Warming.
7. At the negotiations in Glasgow, it was decided that more funds were to be allocated to the Adaptation Fund, which is currently insufficient, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 45% by 2030, we hope that this time the developed countries comply with their commitments.
8. We highlight that the market approaches of Article 6, should not become the purchase and sale of carbon credits, replacing nationally determined contributions. With that approach, emissions will continue to increase to the detriment of humanity. Responsibility and compliance with the commitments toward Climate Justice and the indispensable Policy of Reparation for Losses and Damages, must be urgently strengthened.
9. With the current panorama, the need for a new international economic architecture that promotes inclusion, equity, social justice, and respectful equality between States and Governments, is evident.
10. The People of Nicaragua, who ratified in our recent elections, their strong support for the national policies and programs of our Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, will allow us to achieve the objectives set-out for the wellbeing and happiness of our People in Sovereignty, with Self-determination and Liberty.
