MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF RECONCILIATION AND NATIONAL UNITY OF THE REPUBLIC OF NICARAGUA AT THE MEETING OF CHANCELLORS OF THE COMMUNITY OF LATIN AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN STATES (CELAC) (3 MINUTES)

Ladies and Gentlemen, Ministers, Heads of Delegation, Representatives of International Organizations, Friends;
1. We convey the fraternal embrace and the best wishes of Peace from the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, Comrade Vice President Rosario Murillo; and the People and Government of Nicaragua, in this New Year 2022.
Likewise, we ratify Nicaragua´s steadfast position regarding the legitimate territories of the Argentine Republic, occupied by British colonialism. Nicaragua has defended and continues to defend the Right of this Fraternal, Our American Argentina, to the immediate return of those territories, the Malvinas Islands, which by Geography and History belong to Her.
2. We salute CELAC in its leading role of strengthening Unity in Diversity. Unconditional unity that does not admit interventions or interferences. The Unity and Integration yearned for by Bolívar, Martí, Sandino
and all the heroes, heroines, forefathers and leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean, who bequeathed their libertarian heritage upon us.
3. In addressing the cross-cutting Pandemics faced by our Peoples, Unity in diversity and plurality is our path. The Fostering of understanding, cooperation, complementarity and political dialogue, always based on trust, respect for differences, historical and cultural relations, geographical proximity, good faith and the search for consensus in decision making that benefits all of our peoples.
4. Nicaragua, for reason of principles, is respectful of Human Rights at all times and under all circumstances.
5. We accompany the fight for Human Rights everywhere in the world, respecting the affairs of each country.
6. We cannot and must not stop clamoring against the crimes, tortures, violations and disappearances that are committed every day, in so many countries of the world, and that constitute delinquent scourges, abuses and Human Rights violations.
7. We cannot lose sight of the consequences of drug trafficking and Organized Crime, as disastrous in terms of Human Rights.
8. Nor can we lose sight of the human tragedy represented by migration, the trafficking and smuggling of thousands of people, families with children and the elderly, which has been so widely denounced and continues to be denounced, as a failure of the political, economic and social systems.
9. We cannot fail to refer to the serious peril of extinction of humanity, in the face of the disaster that climate change poses against nature and people and that we must combat.
10. We cannot ignore poverty and extreme poverty as grave violations of Human Rights that threaten to exterminate us, as a result of the injustice of savage capitalism.
11. Almost two years after the start of the COVID19 pandemic, we express our solidarity to the families who have lost loved ones. We are grateful for the cooperation of various countries, which have allowed us to access vaccines and achieve almost 80% of the Nicaraguan population already vaccinated, and advancing toward economic recovery.
12. On 19th November, Nicaragua denounced the Charter of the OAS, initiating the process of withdrawing from that organization that acts aggressively against Nicaragua, ignoring the friendly relations that must exist between States, respect for sovereign equality and non-interference in internal affairs, the obligation to not promote coups d'états, blockades, or unilateral, illegal and coercive measures.
13. With the new period of our Government that begins on 10th January of this year 2022; we continue to strengthen our relations of friendship, exchange and solidarity, with all Peoples and Governments.
14. Nicaragua recognizes the outstanding work of Mexico in its guiding and strengthening of CELAC and extends its solidarity and support to Argentina, as it assumes the incoming Pro Tempore Presidency of CELAC.
15. A better future is possible for the member countries of CELAC, strengthening unity, integration, cooperation, complementarity, national identity, and solidarity, principles that underpin the functioning of this Community of Caribbean and Latin American States.
16. We denounce and condemn the infamous and criminal imperialist northamerican blockade, which for over 62 years has threatened the Life of the Cuban People.
We denounce, condemn and demand an end to the Arbitrary, Illegal and Unilateral Measures that violate the Human Rights of Peoples all over the World, and within our Region, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
We demand an end to all the imperialist aggressions that create more vulnerability and poverty, in a World that we must make more Just, Harmonious, Fraternal and with Solidarity and Complementarity.

17. We wish you all a Fruitful New Year 2022, in Peace and Prosperity for our Peoples, in unity and respect for diversity, for the principles of International Law and for the Plurality that characterizes CELAC.
