Mrs. Laura Elena Carrillo, Presidential Commissioner of Mexico, Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AMEXCID) and Permanent Presidency of the Mesoamerica Project,
Mrs. Gloria Sandoval Salas, Deputy Presidential Commissioner of Mexico, General Director of the Mesoamerica Project at AMEXCID,
Dr. Lidia Fromm, Executive Director of the Mesoamerica Integration and Development Project,
Dear Presidential Commissioners of the Member States of the Mesoamerica Project,
Distinguished Strategic Partners of the Interinstitutional Technical Group,
Receive a cordial and fraternal greeting on behalf of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, and Vice President, Comrade Rosario Murillo, as well as from all the Comrades that make up the institutions of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.
As this is the First Meeting of the Executive Commission of the Mesoamerica Project in 2022, we are pleased to convey a Happy New Year, along with our best wishes for Peace, Health, Prosperity and Happiness.
We warmly welcome to the Mesoamerica Project, Mrs. Melixa Martínez, General Director of Cooperation
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Honduras, and Mr. Edwin Cueva, Presidential Commissioner of the Republic of Panama.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Nicaragua assumes the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Mesoamerica Project with the determination and commitment to continue promoting effective Regional Cooperation, which allows us to face the many challenges of our times, including the COVID19 pandemic, poverty, hunger, inequality and the climate change crisis.
Faced with these challenges, Nicaragua highlights the validity and relevance of the Mesoamerican Cooperation Agenda, with its 2 Axes, Economic and Social, and its 9 Strategic Lines.
During our Pro Tempore Presidency of the Mesoamerica Project, we will continue to prioritize the issues of Health and capacity building to continue addressing the COVID19 pandemic; the promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; the Creative and Cultural Economy; Disaster Risk Management; and concerted action to deal with the effects of Climate Change. Likewise, we will propose to the membership the adoption of Gender Equity and the Fight against Climate Change, as transversal axes of our organization, given they affect each of the actions that we carry out. We will give continuity to the negotiations and adopted agreements received from the PPT of Honduras and other important matters that we have discussed with the Permanent Presidency of Mexico and the Executive Directorate and that we will submit to the consideration of the membership in due course.
In the development of our Pro Tempore Presidency, it is our genuine aspiration to be able to work hand in hand with each one of you in order to meet the goals that we have set out for ourselves as an organization.
We thank everyone for their participation today, with our best wishes for a successful and fruitful Meeting.
Thank you very much.
