The Nicaraguan news outlet 100% Noticias has published a false report suggesting that a fire in the country's important Indio Maíz Biological reserve in the south east of Nicaragua has killed a significant number of protected fauna there. The report seems to follow a social network post by environmentalist and veterinarian Enrique Rimbaud. Both Dr. Rimbaud's post and the 100% Noticias report include the same photographs of which two have been identified as originating from reports of fauna killed by forest fires in other countries, one in Guatemala and one in Indonesia.
