COMMUNIQUE
The Delegation of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity at the Negotiation Table for Understanding and Peace in our Country, has fulfilled its responsibility to be present at the Venue of the Conversations, today Wednesday March 13 at 10 o'clock in the morning, as agreed in the Roadmap signed on March 5.
We are here waiting for the Counterpart to also present itself, in compliance with what was signed by consensus.
With the seriousness that characterizes the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity and the Nicaraguan State, we reiterate the unwavering Commitment to continue working according to the Road Map, in order to agree on Agendas and to advance on the Paths of Understanding that the Nicaraguan Families demand.
The Delegation of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, reminds our people that last Saturday, March 9, we published our Agenda Proposal for the Negotiation Table, where all issues to be conversed, discussed and agreed are considered.
That Agenda literally proposes:
Committed to the Strengthening of Democracy and the Respect for the Constitutional Order of Nicaragua and considering that both Presidential and Legislative Elections are set for 2021, the Government of Nicaragua, through its representatives in the Negotiation Table, has presented the following agenda items, for the continuation of these Meetings:
1. Strengthening of the Electoral Institutions in Nicaragua through the implementation of the recommendations made by the Electoral Mission of the OAS and proposals for electoral reform to perfect free, fair and transparent electoral processes.
2. Justice and reparations to continue consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Nicaragua.
3. Release of those incarcerated for crimes committed against the State of Nicaragua in the framework of the April 2018 criminal activities and revision of the files of persons already tried, as well as those whom have not yet faced trial, ensuring that this situation may not lead to impunity.
Continue strengthening freedom, rights and guarantees established in the Political Constitution of the Republic of Nicaragua.
4. Carry out international efforts to obtain support for the implementation of the final agreements of the negotiations and call upon the International Community to suspend all sanctions against the People of Nicaragua, in order to facilitate the right to Economic, Social and Human Development of Nicaragua, favoring the most vulnerable sectors of the population.
5. Implementation and compliance of the agreements.
Our Government reaffirms the inalterable Commitment to converse broadly on all these Points, in order to reach the best Agreements. We hope that the Counterpart Delegation will retake its place at the Conversation Table, in correspondence with the Right of all Nicaraguan Families to a Harmonious Coexistence, Work and Peace.
