PRESS RELEASE
The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Nicaragua announces to the Nicaraguan Families and other Nationalities that, through the General Directorate of the National Penitentiary System, it has complied with 100 orders in favor of persons who were detained for having committed crimes against public security and tranquility. These people have received the legal benefit of family cohabitation or other precautionary measures.
The delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) participated, as observers, in the process of releasing the 100 prisoners through a unilateral decision of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.
Given in the City of Managua, on the twentieth day of the month of May of the year 2019.
