MESSAGE FROM NICARAGUA BEFORE THE PERMANENT COUNCIL SESSION OF THE OAS
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of Nicaragua, which has worked and continue working arduously to ensure Peace, Advances in the Fight against Poverty, and Sustained Hope in a Promising Future for all Nicaraguan Families, before this Session of the Permanent Council of the OAS, expresses its strongest protest for the inclusion of an Agenda Point which we consider detrimental to our National Sovereignty.
In these days, the Central American Region commemorates the 198th Anniversary of its Independence, and in Nicaragua, in particular, we commemorate the 163rd Anniversary of the Glorious Battle of San Jacinto, Heroic Feat representative of the Courage of the Nicaraguan Race which, with Honor and high Sense of Homeland, defended our National Sovereignty, expelling from Our Blessed and Free Nicaragua, the Yankee Filibuster, as we have also known how to expel repeated North American intervention and meddling throughout our Brave and Dignified History.
The People of Rubén Darío, and Augusto Nicolás Calderón Sandino, the People of General José Dolores Estrada, and Andrés Castro, have been able to identify and reject all forms of interference and intervention in our National Affairs, conquering a place in the Collective Memory of Latin America and the World, for the brave and determined Resistance and Defense of our Sacred Geography and National Dignity, we have always known how present.
Through Centuries, Nicaragua has been coveted by Empires and outlaws, by pirates and adventurers, by imperialist policies known to the entire world.
40 Years ago, with Glorious Battles, we marked the end of the Somoza Tyranny, and the People triumphed with the Sandinista Front for National Liberation, beginning another Time of Struggles and Victories, with the Sandinista Popular Revolution, which opened New Chapters of Freedom and Democracy, in our small and great Country.
Centuries of continuous pretensions of domination, and 40 Years of Battles and Revolutionary Triumphs, Nicaragua, with Patriotic Pride and Growing Dignity, claims in this Permanent Council, the Right to Self-Determination and Respect that we have conquered with the Blood of hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguans, whose Lives have been offered INLOVEFORNICARAGUA and for the Honor of a Free, Blessed and Always Christian an in Solidarity Homeland.
When speaking before Countries, Governments and Peoples here represented, we do so in the name of a Noble, Courageous and Valuable People, who demand, with simplicity and historical reason, Respect, Respect, Respect.
Nicaragua rejects any imposition. Rejects any pretension to protect our Brave Country. Nicaragua rejects any self-willed interventionist Proposal, derived from Policies we have rejected and continue to reject, for being detrimental to our Institutionality, our Constitution, our Laws, our Identity and National Rights.
Therefore, as we have declared, and state here again today, we do not accept those Mechanisms, which Nicaragua has not requested be instituted, or that other Countries intend to decide for us, or try to arbitrarily, illegally and illegitimately meddle in our Internal Affairs.
We reiterate to this Permanent Council, that Nicaragua continues to advance, transcending adverse circumstances imposed from other latitudes, generating in the Homes, Families and Communities of our Free Homeland, the Trust and Hope indispensable to continue fighting successfully against Poverty.
In Nicaragua, we continue to create Development with Social Justice, with Families as Protagonists, with Gender Equity, with Youth as Protagonists, and generating more Security, more Education, Health, Energy, Water, Sanitation, Roads, Bridges, Housing, Agriculture, Caring for Our Nature in the face of Climate Change, Small and Medium Businesses, or Creative Economy and everything that represents a Culture of Identity and Values, with Work, Rights, Welfare and Harmonious Cohabitation among Nicaraguans.
Nicaragua continues to live in Times of Peace and Good Will, thanks to the Spiritual Strength of a Great People that has deserved and deserves, a special place in the History of the Struggle against Colonialism, Imperialism, Neocolonialism and Greed of all those who pretend to dominate the World. All Peoples have the Right to Work and Prosper, to Live as Human Beings, building Peace every day, from the Freedom and the Protagonism of each and of everyone.
Nicaragua does not recognize any Working Group or Commission that it has not requested. We also reject any attempt by other Governments, or this Organization, to take on the right to use force of interference threats, and to pretend to subjugate us, using and abusing of Media Terrorism, greed and caprice to attack the World.
Nicaragua reiterates before this Permanent Council, that it successfully participates in all the OAS Mechanisms and that we will continue to do so, as long as they promote Integration and Attention to fundamental problems, common to us all, with differentiated responsibilities, substantive problems such as Injustice, Poverty, Migration through Insecurity and Poverty, Terrorism, Drug Trafficking, and all other ways of attacking Sovereign Peace, Good, and Security. We want to work with the OAS for Peace, Life, Common Good and the Right to Development of our Countries and Peoples, including when we agree, as we have so sovereignly agreed, Processes for Strengthening Electoral Institutionality and / or Electoral Processes.
We are here because we believe that the OAS can and should serve our Governments and Peoples, based on the Respect we deserve, and that it is now time to enforce, so that this Organization transcends Dark Times, and truly serves the diversity and the common interest of Our Caribbean America that wants to improve, advance, prosper with recognition of our Independence, Sovereignties and Own Rights.
