“We want to remember today, as we recall tomorrow as well, all the victims of the tragedy at the Casita volcano during Hurricane Mitch and remember too Felícita Zeledón, the valiant mayor of Posoltega who warned and alerted but was never heeded on the tragedy that could occur, the disaster that could have been prevented", the Vice President said.
“More than 3000 sisters and brothers in the area died and we are holding church services, embracing their families and hoping that, in these better times, via prevention, via careful measures based on Christian solidarity, such a disaster is not repeated as a result of unforgivable negligence, a tragedy of such dimensions", Rosario Murillo added.
The Vice President confirmed that various church services will be held to remember the tragedy, floral offerings will be made as well as the planting of trees and other activities during which survivors of that terrible tragedy will offer their testimonies.
“An embrace from us all to all the families, our embrace to the family of Felícita whom we remember today as I said, for her bravery, as a Nicaraguan woman, as a worthy mayor, a mayor everyone but everyone remembers and recalls, conscious of her personal qualities and abilities" , the Vice President declared.
