It's been a while, but rest assured the Embassy Protection Collective is hard at work educating the public about United States intervention in Venezuela and other parts of the world, exposing the US for its illegal actions and preparing for the trials of the Embassy Protectors who were arrested.

Visit the Embassy Protectors Defense Committee website for updates and watch a recent panel on regime change efforts here.

On the morning of Friday, October 25, journalist and Grayzone editor Max Blumenthal was arrested in his home in Washington, DC. In a SWAT-style raid, police surrounded his home and took him to jail where he was held for two days without access to a phone to even call his lawyer. We later learned that the warrant for his arrest was over five months old, had been rescinded and listed Max as "armed and dangerous." We are thankful that Max was not hurt during the arrest.

Read about Grayzone's account of what happened here and Alan Macleod's coverage in Mintpress News here. The Grayzone recently uncovered that the United States is using taxpayer dollars to pay salaries to Venezuelan coup leaders and funding their travel and other expenses. Grayzone journalists, including Max, also recently traveled to Syria to provide a view few people in the US have access to.

We are still assessing Max's needs and will let you know. For now, please spread the word that a US journalist is being targeted for his coverage that challenges the US security state. Organizations such as the Committee to Protect Journalists refuse to support Max.

Sanctions (technically "unilateral coercive measures") imposed by the United States and its junior partners on countries such as Venezuela violate international laws. On November 14, the United Nations General Assembly's Second Committee (the Committee on Finances and the Economy) will vote on a resolution introduced by the Group of 77 + China that:

1. Urges the international community to adopt urgent and effective measures to eliminate the use of unilateral economic, financial or trade measures that are not authorized by relevant organs of the United Nations, that are inconsistent with the principles of international law or the Charter of the United Nations …;

2. Calls upon the international community to condemn and reject the imposition of the use of such measures as a means of political and economic coercion against developing countries …;
