The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua conveys its sincere condolences to the family of Martin Khor, from Penang, Malaysia, Founder, Chairman and former Director of Third World Network and former Executive Director of South Centre.
Martin Khor worked closely with Nicaragua in Copenhagen, Paris and at all the Conferences of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, preparing policy analyses and organizing meetings prior to all COP and Green Climate Fund meetings through the South Centre and Third World Network (TWN), which has served as the secretariat for the Like Minded group of countries.
Martin Khor promoted and protected the interests of developing countries and the poor of the world against the global hegemony of imperial economic and geopolitical powers.
Today the world has undoubtedly lost a champion in the struggle against Climate Change and the abuses of global hegemonic imperialism, but his example and inspiration lives on in all those he inspired and are ready to carry on this every day fight for our Mother Earth and a more just world.
