Help the Black Alliance for Peace stay independent

The Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) was launched April 4, 2017, to rebuild the traditional anti-war and anti-imperialist tradition of the Black Liberation Movement. Our politics are unapologetically radical.

We believe in peace, but we understand there can be no peace without justice. We are clear that to obtain justice, we must fight to shift power away from those forces that impose war and suffering on the people of the United States and the world.

In our 3-1/2 years, we have made significant progress building the alliance with almost no money and no staff, only with an abundance of enthusiasm for the historic mission that we had assumed.

We have established city-wide alliances in various parts of the country for members to engage in locally and have launched a two-pronged educational campaign to oppose police militarization as well as demand the U.S. military be defunded. The campaign is called “No Compromise, No Retreat: Defeat the War Against African/Black People in the U.S. and Abroad.” Our U.S. Out of Africa Network supports our U.S. Out of Africa: Shut Down AFRICOM effort, one prong of the campaign.

We have also taken an unambiguous position in opposition to murderous U.S. sanctions slapped on over 30 countries and we proudly stood with the Venezuelan people as the Trump administration attempted to destroy their revolutionary process by attempting to impose a puppet government.

But we can do more.

We come to you to help us take advantage of this historic moment to elevate our presence. We need to raise $30,000 over the next few weeks to 1) free up a couple of workers in the struggle to help with the influx of people joining the alliance, 2) upgrade our website, 3) create and disseminate educational materials, and 4) lay the foundation for our first public conference in 2021.

Help us today. But also please circulate this message and encourage people in your networks to give.

You may have heard about the millions of dollars in the pipeline for some formations. We will not receive a dime of that money. And you know what? We wouldn’t take any of it even if offered.

That is not to disparage the organizations that solicit and are able to receive that support. It’s that we believe the nature of our work and the issues we have raised and work on require we maintain an independent voice and an organizational integrity beyond reproach.

So, help us. If you are reading this, it is because we know you are inclined to support principled, uncompromising organizations and movements that are clear about the need for fundamental social change.

No Compromise, No Retreat!
